Ok this is simply one of the best days of the year...

the vehicles bring people together in ways that just do not always happen on a normal day. Suddenly people who have never met are sharing stories about the vehicles in their life, the impact they had... the memories of that time... and people just come alive in ways that they have not seen in awhile... it is truly amazing and the vehicles are cool too...

In case you missed the 2023 Meet

The 2023 Meet, let us start by thanking everyone who was able to bring their car out to the meet and to the people who came without bring their car onto the field who showed up to talk, join in conversations about their cars. Your efforts and presence help bring to life the intention for the meet, come for the cars, stay for the people.

It continues to amaze us how each year we have a group of cars that have not been to the meet, often with owners we have not seen before, or who have not been to the meet in many years who feel grateful they made the effort to return.

Walking around there was one fascinating conversation after another to listen too or join in. Lovely stories of people finding their car, their car finding them, the not always straight forward process of dancing with the previous owner to be given permission to take over looking after the car… which then leads to a purchase… as a sort of afterthought.

It was wonderful to see the joy in family members whose original fears, concerns for “that car”, that showed up at their home one day, needing a restoration or a serious clean, tidy, adjustment and setup process. All that washed away into gratitude as they witnessed the interest and appreciation so many visitors to the meet expressed in hearing the stories of their car’s adventures with them. The process they went through in bringing the car back to life.

It is fascinating to see the same group of cars the show up every year, that continue to delight people and spark stories, inspiring people to share their childhood, growing up with a car stories, interest.

Then we have the group of cars not seen for a number of years, the owners look and feel more refreshed than their cars, as they share their stories that reflect there is time and energy in the day for what matters… well after the house and yard work is done that is.

The last 5 years have seen a growing number of people for whom this has become their favouite car meet of the year, blending with first time visitors, who were either passing by, decided to stop in, or heard about it and wanted to come see for themselves. Even the weather celebrated the day with us by being hot and cloudy, with no rain! Who knew that was possible…

Each year we wonder how next year’s Meet can made better, while feeling proud that the Meet is getting into it’s own drive, expanding the joy we feel in connecting with and making new friends during the meet. The day finished with many thanks you to the volunteers who help make the Meet possible, for the people bring their cars down, sharing their interests, adventures in life with other people. We are so looking forward to next years Meet.
